FUTURE CLASSICS© was founded in 2000, by London based designer Julie Wilkins and swiftly achieved acclaim for cleverly deconstructed jersey pieces, based on exploring and unravelling the grammar of the traditional T. The label moved on to incorporate knitwear and soft tailoring with the aim of creating a mainframe of timeless 'modern vintage' clothing where the dialogue between the traditional and the modern, the avant-garde and the conservative is played out. Since its creation, the label has had tremendous critical and commercial success, and is stocked in high end boutiques and department stores in the UK and internationally. The label exhibits during London and Paris Fashion Weeks.

A major part of the FUTURE CLASSICS© ethos is in the studied construction of each garment, which combines a modern and deconstructive approach to classically made garments. The pieces are developed and produced with care and attention to detail, using traditional techniques and fabrics - silk, cotton, cashmere, wool - and are often hand finished. All knitwear is fully fashioned. The interior of the garment is as important as the exterior, and often ends up swapping places with it, leaving seams and facings exposed. The DRESS© prints are all designed and developed by Julie.

Julie was a singer/songwriter and painter before starting the label, and is currently working on an album of songs, which were used for the AW09 and SS10 catwalk shows.

FUTURE CLASSICS DRESS© : an extended family of 10-12 semi-couture dresses and half-dresses (skirts and blouses) in exclusive FUTURE CLASSICS© prints or plain black, made using traditional, feminine dress materials.
